Vaccination Schedule India
Vaccination protects children and adults against infections that can cause serious illness, disability and death. India's vaccination schedule includes routine childhood and adolescent vaccines, with additional vaccines recommended for selected risk groups and situations.

Why schedules matter
Vaccines are timed to provide protection when people are most vulnerable and to build or maintain immunity. Some vaccines require multiple doses because the immune response needs to be strengthened over time.

Keep records
Maintain the child's vaccination card or digital record and bring it to every medical visit. If a dose was delayed, do not assume the entire schedule must be restarted. A healthcare professional can advise a catch-up plan.

Vaccination beyond childhood
Pregnant women, older adults, healthcare workers and people with certain medical conditions may need vaccines based on age, pregnancy status, exposure and risk. Travel can also change vaccination requirements.

Safety and common reactions
Mild pain, swelling or fever can occur after some vaccines and usually settles. Serious vaccine reactions are uncommon, but the vaccination team should know about previous severe allergic reactions and relevant medical history.

When to seek medical help?
Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty, facial swelling, collapse or other signs of a severe allergic reaction after vaccination.
